Victim of severe head injury assault 'deserves full compensation'

A 42 year old man, whose suffered severe head injuries with a single unprovoked punch should receive full state compensation even though he had been drinking before the incident, a judge has ruled.
He was attacked by a 29 year old man who unleashed a single punch, knocking him unconscious and left him lying with his head in a gutter resulting in a fractured skull and a blood clot on the brain, which required an operation, and spent three weeks in hospital.
